No Longer Ignored

By Gary Greene

The wounds of the body soon scar

The wounds of the mind stay raw

Lashes of long-ago will not show

No longer ignored in this year

Still cut deep by the soul that saw

Wrongs of the past and even now

Change so painfully slow

How can we ask them to wait?

“I have been struggling with the resistance to critical race theory. Why are there people so afraid of the truth. There are a lot of dark things about our past and it is now stunning to me how what most of us were taught in school glossed over it.”

Gary Greene is a retired engineer, living in Washington state. After working in many different fields, he has concentrated on reading and hosting a small Spanish Book Club for beginning Spanish Speakers.
