EJI (Equal Justice Initiative) works with communities that have been marginalized by poverty and discouraged by unequal treatment.They are committed to changing the narrative about race in America. In 2018, they opened the Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice as part of their national effort to create new spaces, markers, and memorials that address the legacy of slavery, lynching, and racial segregation, which shapes many issues today.
Real Rent calls on people who live and work in Seattle to make rent payments to the Duwamish Tribe. Though the city named for the Duwamish leader Chief Seattle thrives, The Tribe has yet to be justly compensated for their land, resources, and livelihood. You can do something today to stand in solidarity with First Peoples of this land by paying Real Rent. All funds go directly to Duwamish Tribal Services (DTS) to support the revival of Duwamish culture and the vitality of the Duwamish Tribe.
Stop AAPI Hate is a website launched after the Covid pandemic to track and respond to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Their approach recognizes that in order to effectively address anti-Asian racism we must work to end all forms of structural racism leveled at Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.
