LEAN TOWARD THE LIGHT (Proverbs 29:18)

By Richard Wells

without light
there is no vision

without vision
the people perish.

 our leaders are
hollow men

 as far from the border
of redemption

 as any who have lived

 soul sick men
who inflict suffering

as if they had
invented it

who treat death as though
it will never come for them.

These days -

A taste of rust
ash on the wind

 storms raging

 black hearts courting catastrophe.

 Struggle toward the light

without light
there is no vision

without vision
the people perish.
