WE ARE US

it’s not a matter of if
       it’s a matter of now
the precious weapons of resistance
are loaded with hope and promise
we the people
       standing in defiance
of political oppression
standing shoulder to shoulder
                 heart to heart
on the front lines of change

we the people
       Seattle strong
fueled by resilience
disciplined and unruffled
         together as one
         together as we
destroying the barriers
artificially created
                   by unleadable leaders
the scum of the earth

the road ahead
                 is ominious
resistance is essential
       push back
       hold fast
hold hands
hold on
for tomorrow begins tonight

what role will you chose
in the season of resistance
        will you fight with your feet
        will you fight with your words
        will you fight with your voice
it’s time now to break the rules
      defy convention

do it
     do it now
          do it joyfully
               do it peacefully
for the ugliness of oppression
will not be tolerated
   not here
              not now
              not ever

just like the freedom of the past
the freedom of the future
       belongs to we the people
and the we is us

Neil Vincent Scott is a veteran radio broadcaster, as well as an accomplished poet. His most recent works were published in ‘Wheelsong Anthology 4’ in the UK. His poetry writing dates back to 1979, with his first publication “Midnight Sunshine”.

Neil is a producer/host at iHeart Radio in Seattle, hosting ‘Men’s Health Matters’ on 93.3 KJR-FM, as well as the national podcast, ‘Recovery – Coast to Coast’. In addition, he is a national sports radio reporter, covering the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and the Washington Husky football team. He has lived in Seattle, Washington since 1980.
