Dancing Up The Storm
By Becca Lavin
Dancing Up The Storm
That has (had) no
CLAIM
To OUR GRAND-SAFE
UNTOUCHABLE
ISLAND
Of LAWS
Now A-BREAK
CRUMBLING Before us
As BRITTLE as CHALK
Only DUST
In Its WAKE
A WASHING? AWAY
Of TRUTH?
To a sewer-like DRAIN
CHOKING THE GILLS
Of HISTORY (& HERSTORY)
We THOUGHT we’d put
To SHAME
WHAT?! HOW?! WHY?!
A TSUNAMI OF
Unbridled CORRUPT-ION
Unchecked CRUELTY
AVARICE
& PAIN
WHAT? ...NOW?..
We must GATHER
TO GETHER
Make OF IT
THE NECESSARY
NOISE
EXPOSE our
RIGHTEOUS RAGE!
At THE STORM-
TROOPERS TRAMPLING
Over TRUTHS that
EACH & EVERY ONE
Of us Has the RIGHT To
Whether we / they
BELIEVE them
OR not...
DISTURBING
THE DUST OF
HATE / other
CRUELTY / Unchecked
LAWS / made to order (OR NOT)
CORRUPTION gone WILD!
And, so, JOYFULLY
Our RAGE ECOURAGES US TO
“DANCE UP! THE STORM!”
And SO WE DO
WE DO
Becca Lavin is a woman of a certain age (78) who turned to the written WORD in order to give her a voice she could listen to when, especially 'back in the days’, others may not have been able to. A voice she could question and opine in the boldest, yet, most vulnerable of ways. Life saver, this. Now that she has wrestled her way forward and relaxed into a time of life when she should have most, if not all, her questions answered she has taken up the visual arts and thanks (?) to the crazy world of humans has more questions, such as WhatTF?! and WhenTF shall this too pass? Retired from a 20 year massage therapy practice, in 2020 she decided to try painting at her granddaughter’s requests. Becca lives in Redmond, WA.
