Zach
In these times I have often found it overwhelming when considering what I can do to help. I want to save the world, of course, but the advice I’ve received again and again is to start small. So I’ve sent letters to my elected officials in the state of Washington, attended gatherings like Hands Off, written poems to writers on the inside, and maybe most importantly I continue to teach my students certain basic principles of respect: let others tell you about their identities and listen and respond with care, take care of the land and water you live on, share with your neighbors (plants and animals included), and go through life with humility.
